When I make a mistake and get screamed at, I start thinking about how stupid I was or how mean that person is and for about the whole day I’ll be thinking about this and how my day could have been a lot better if I had just not seen that person. But I realised now that how stupid I am to over think so much about myself, I’m not the only one in the world who gets screamed at. And the person who pointed out my fault has already forgotten about it while I’m wasting my whole day on thinking about it while I can do a lot of productive things.
Once I made a daring decision to submit a story on slut shaming to my English teacher, I seriously think that it was an awesome story and I could have published it or just kept it as a memory but I went ahead and tore it because my teacher told me that India is not a place where you can write about slut shaming and it’s not at all expected from a 15 year old.
That’s how her small comment went down to hunt me for days and weeks. Whenever I used to see her, I felt a little ashamed (though there was nothing to be ashamed of) I always thought Now she thinks of me as a girl who is into things that don’t suit her age. I couldn’t stop thinking about it when I could actually waste my time on thinking about Shawn Mendes instead. Now I feel stupid that I actually cared about what she thought about me, you should be carefree. (Mendesarmy anyone?)
She was right when she pointed out that I couldn’t write about slut shaming so openly in India but I could always publish a story on the internet where no one would know that I wrote it and wouldn’t judge me so blankly. When you over think things you end up doing things that you will actually regret more than anything, instead you should just chill and not care about what anyone thinks (and I mean it). Making a mistake is normal for any human being, embracing the mistake and correcting it what makes you a better person. There is nothing like a flawless human and attaining perfection, it’s just a misconception. You should always be yourself and let no one make ur smile fade away.
Though sometimes you can’t help but think, the Better option is trying to be positive while you are thinking, every situation however bad it may be will have a good side that you have to find and which will make you feel better about yourself.

I like the message you’ve passedπ

I am glad that you analyze your feelings and took a meaningful application from it. However, I want to challenge, from a girl who often felt out of my realm at 15, to not be manipulated by your elders. It is okay not to agree with those who are older than us, as long as we continue to be respectful that is all we can do. I myself am a teacher and whether she was justified to tell you whether that was appropriate or not is up to her, however I challenge you as a writer to not let someone diminish the value of your words and interests based on what is or is not appropriate to them. I am so glad that you found a way for your voice to be heard, I hope that you continue to post, right, and feel empowered through your words. The most amazing women in history did things that were seen as unacceptable at the time, I will leave you with that thought. Good luck in your writing..

I like this post a lot.
Mistakes. Itβs not just a word but, a learning in itself. We ought to understand that itβs not just you or not just me who makes mistakes or gets misunderstood. Itβs the same story with everyone. I really like the way youβve portrayed the importance of not thinking too much. Great post!
Also, this post reminds me of my very first post! It is titled βOur flaws shape usβ. I have tried to explain the same thing!

Well written and very thoughtful. I have a bad habit of becoming consumed by how other people see my work as well. I am a very harsh critic of my own work, as I suspect you are too, and I feel that dwelling on the criticism of others is a part of this. Your positive outlook on it will definitely allow you process criticism in a positive way and help you grow creatively.
